French NF525 fiscal compliance feature: seals invoices and events into a signed, tamper-evident chain.

What is Fiscal Mode?

If your business is registered in France, French law requires your invoicing software to protect your sales records against tampering. SBPay.me does this automatically once you turn on **Fiscal Mode** — every invoice, payment, and correction gets digitally sealed so it can never be secretly altered later.

You don't need to understand *how* this works. You just need to turn it on correctly and keep an eye on a couple of simple indicators.

Before You Start: What You'll Need

Have these ready before you begin:

• Your company's SIREN number (9 digits)
  
• Your company's SIRET number (14 digits)
  
• Your VAT number, if you have one
  
• Your VAT collection regime (ask your accountant if you're not sure — common options are "VAT on debits," "VAT on receipts," or "VAT-exempt / franchise")
  
• Your business timezone (usually just "Europe/Paris")
  

How to set it up

Step 1

Fill In Your Company Details

1. Go to Settings → Company Profile
2. Scroll to the French fiscal identity section
3. Enter your SIREN, SIRET, VAT number, and other data
4. Fill in your Legal form, RCS city, and Share capital if you have them handy (these are optional, but nice to have complete)
5. Choose your VAT collection regime from the dropdown
6. Save the settings

Step 2

Turn On Fiscal Mode

1. Go to Custom features → Fiscal mode (NF525) and enable it.
2. See if any settings are missing from the messages under this feature and click to activate fiscal mode.(once everything is filled in correctly, the Enable Fiscal Mode button will become clickable)
3. You'll get one more warning. Read it — it explains that turning this on is permanent and cannot be undone.
4. Proceed with enabling the fiscal mode.
5. After it is enabled please go to Declarations tab there, download the samples and then upload your signed declaration.(As part of NF525 compliance, you're required to sign and keep on file a formal declaration (sometimes called "Volet 1/2"))
6. That's it — Fiscal Mode is now protecting every invoice you create from this point forward.

Please note! turning this on does not change how you use SBPay.me day to day. You create invoices, take payments, and issue refunds exactly the same way as before. The protection happens automatically in the background.

Using Verification QR Code

If you'd like your invoices to include a QR code that customers or auditors can scan to confirm the invoice is genuine it is already enabled for you by default together with the fiscal mode:
1. To manage this setting please go to the same Custom features → Fiscal mode (NF525) area
2. Use the toggle Show verification QR code on invoices
3. Save settings.

This is optional and purely a convenience — your invoices are fully protected whether or not this is switched on.

Checking That Everything Is Working

You don't need to check this often, but here's how, if you ever want peace of mind:

Check a specific invoice

Open any finalized invoice. Near the bottom, you'll see:

• Fiscal signature — a long code confirming this invoice is sealed
  
• Fiscal timeline — a short list showing what happened to this invoice (created, paid, etc.) and when

You don't need to do anything with this information day to day — it's just there if you or an auditor ever need to double-check something.

Check your closures

Go to the Closures section in the Fiscal menu. Each day/month/year, SBPay.me automatically creates a closure — a sealed summary of that day's sales. You'll see one new row appear here roughly once per period. Each one shows the totals and lets you download a signed archive file if you ever need to hand it to an accountant or tax inspector.

Please note!

• You cannot turn Fiscal Mode off** once it's on. This is by design — it's what makes your records trustworthy.
• You'll never lose access to old invoices if your signing key ever changes — SBPay.me keeps every past key so old documents can always be verified.
• You don't need to be technical to use this correctly. Just fill in your details accurately, turn it on, and use SBPay.me the way you always have. The protection runs quietly in the background.
